Sorrows and tears have filled the hearts of uniben students as the Mourn the death of a female student who was hit by a fast moving police patrol van about 2 days ago. This led to a massive protest by the students, expressing their grief on the accident.
According to reports, an army vehicle written Thunder storm patrol 28, at about 10:15am on Sunday morning drove into 2 girls( Halim Rita Awele and Efe), who were crossing the road..from indications they were both coming from one of the hostels located beside Odaro plaza…
After the accident one of the girls was lying on the ground, while the other girl the car hit first was inside a bush close to the road side, they were immediately rushed to the hospital.
An I.D card found in one of the girls bag, indicated the victim, Halim Rita was a 200 level philosophy student University of Benin. Rita didn’t make it through as she later gave up the ghost while her friend is responding to treatment.The students of the institution are currently holding a protest concerning the student’s death…More details to come.
