The late Ondo state comissioner,Deji Falae was finally laid to rest yesterday "thursday 14th Nov, 2013". Being one of the victims in the ill fated air crash that happened on october 3rd, conveying the body of late Olusegun Agagu , he was buried in his home town, Akure capital of Ondo State. Deji is son of a former Minister of Finance and ex-Presidential candidate, Chief Olu Falae.
At the event, tears flowed freely at the funeral service which held at the Anglican Cathedral Church of Saint David, Ijomu, Akure.
The service was attended by Ondo State
Governor Olusegun Mimiko; his wife, Olukemi; and a representative of the
Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
In his sermon, Bishop of Akure Diocese
of the Anglican Church, Rt. Revere Borokini, advised people to be closer
to God in their dealings in life.
He said, “No matter what you have, it
will expire the day you die; you will be called to eternal rest one day,
it may be soon, you must know that the promises of God for mankind are
true and just, be mindful of your dealings on earth”.
Mimiko, while speaking to journalists
after the funeral service, described the late commissioner as a humble,
passionate and very hardworking government official.
He said, “Essentially Deji Falae was a
young man well bred, he was humble, knowledgeable, dedicated and he had
this unusual zeal for work and he was a man who cared for everybody no
matter your status in life, especially he had a deep concern for the
underprivileged in the society.
“He came on board as
commissioner for culture and tourism and within the short period, he was
able to add a lot of values to the system. He was very dear to every
member of the cabinet, Ondo State will miss him.”
